It’s the season of giving, so why not give your family and friends beautiful hand-crafted gifts? The Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Art Museum is offering not one, but two exciting workshops for children this holiday!
Most of us know about painting on paper or canvas or even wood, but have you ever tried painting on glass? Children are welcome to test their creative skills at glass painting and discover the beautiful relationship between light and colourful, painted glass.
If the delicacy of glass painting is not for you, then get your hands messy and embrace creativity in our sculptural clay workshops. There’s no need for fancy equipment here, all you need are your hands, an eye for detail and an active imagination!
Glass Painting Workshops:
- 12 and 14 December 2011 (Children 9 – 13 years old)
- 19 and 21 December 2011 (Children 14 – 18 years old)
Sculptural Clay Workshops:
- 4 and 5 January 2012 (Children 7 – 13 years old)
- 6 January 2012 (Children 14 – 18 years old)
All workshops will take place from 9am – 12pm. The cost is R30 and all materials will be provided including light refreshments. If children have a glass bottle/jar or any glass panel/object that they would like to paint on, they are welcome to bring it to the glass painting workshop.
Fifteen children can be accommodated per workshop so phone the Art Museum on 041 506 2000 to make a booking for a morning of fun! Bursaries are available, on request, for suitable applicants.
