Procurement Specialist - Freight and Logistics

International Blue Chip Manufacturer in Port Elizabeth would like to invite suitably qualified individuals to contribute to this concern

The main purpose of the position is to optimize the total cost of ownership, reliability and security of supply and quality of service for FREIGHT and LOGISTICS requirements across the group, through strategic sourcing, supply chain management and supplier relations and performance management.
The freight and logistics requirements include: Road Transport, Rail Transport, Air Transport, import/clearing/duties/handling ,fuel tyres etc
Previous exposure to commodities such as grass,grates,PET and labels will be required

Key Responsibilities are:
* Formulate a commodity strategy for freight and logistics for each mode of transport and for each country in close collaboration with the group supply chain and user country functions
* Align each country’s procurement business plan with group strategy and business requirements and develop a detailed freight and logistics procurement plan
* Manage the implementation of the freight and logistics strategies and procurement plans
* Source freight and logistics and optimize costs through appropriate sourcing mechanisms including aggregation of country requirements and detailed cost driver model analysis
* Negotiate and monitor master terms and conditions as well as supplier operations and service level contracts
* Manage and measure key supplier relationships and performance in execution of contracts
* Provide three year cost forecasts
* Measure performance against KBI’s and report regularly as required

• A B Degree in Business or equivalent
• 8 yrs business experience of which 5 is in purchasing
• Good Business acumen with extensive contract law knowledge
• Excellent communication in commercial negotiations
• Excellent knowledge of the freight and logistics, importation and Inco Terms
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to think strategically

The Successful candidate must be willing to travel extensively
